Nigerian Artistes, Afeez Fashola aka Naira Marley, Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael aka Zlatan Ibile, Tiamiu Abdulrahman Kayode aka Rahman Jago and two others not named will be charged to court for their alleged connections to cybercrime and fraud popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo.
The trio, alongside two others, Adewunmi Adeyanju Moses and Abubakar Musa, was arrested in the early hours of Friday, at 9, Gbangbola Street, Ikate, Lekki, Lagos.
However, giving an update on their situation, today, a top source within EFCC, told SaharaReporters that the agency has plans to use information volunteered by the suspects to charge them to court. And that, until then, they will remain in detention.
Zlatan Ibile and Naira Marley are part of the new crop of Nigerian musicians who promote and encourage internet fraud which is consistently tarnishing our Country’s reputation. Zlatan, particularly is fond of hailing infamous internet fraudsters while Marley while claiming not to be a Yahoo Boy is being contradicted by his lyrics which are self-incriminatory.
The case took on a new twist when the anti-graft agency, EFCC, revealed that the trio was volunteering information and was still being kept in detention.
People have faulted the acclaimed artistes for speaking with the EFCC without their lawyers present, it is apparent that was a grave mistake as they have unwittingly implicated themselves. Meanwhile, Zlatan’s girlfriend has in a video pleaded with the EFCC to release her boyfriend.
