Why Igbos Will Not Get Senate Presidency, Deputy – APC

The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yekini Nabena, has said the Igbos have themselves to blame for losing out in the slot to either become the Senate President or Deputy Senate President in the 9th National Assembly.

While reacting to the comment of the former Abia state governor, Orji Uzor Kalu on the party making him the deputy senate president or he will contest for the Senate President Nabena said the party has since zoned the Senate President position to North-East, Deputy Senate President to the North-West, and Chief Whip to the South-East.

However, this did not augur well with Abia state governor as he feels it was a slight on the South East.

Nabena said the party does not deserve any blame for not zoning the position of Senate President or Deputy Senate President to the South-East but rather the South-East should blame themeselves for queuing behind the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, in the general elections.

He said while nobody is stopping Kalu from contesting for the position of Senate President, the reality remains he cannot win since the zoning arrangement does not favour the south–east.
