Operatives of the Imo State Police Command apprehended five members of a child trafficking syndicate for allegedly selling a six-hour-old baby for N850,000 shortly after he was born.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Rabiu Ladodo, parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Owerri described the crime as “absurd and irritating adding the suspects would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
The Commissioner of Police noted it was unbelievable that the mother of the newborn, Chinonye Oparaocha, conspired with the other suspects to trade the child after delivery.
While parading the suspects, they however confessed to committing the coordinated crime.
