The Department of State Security Service on Sunday 4 August, confirmed the arrest of the former Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress Omoyele Sowore.
The Secret Police’s spokesperson Peter Afunaya, confirmed this at a press briefing on Sunday in Abuja, stating the DSS is acting within its constitutional powers to arrest and detain anybody or group who threatens the unity and peaceful co-existence of Nigeria.
He further alleged the call for revolution was deemed as a national security threat.
It would be recalled Sowore was arrested on Saturday 3 August, by operatives of the Department of State Secrity service at his Lagos residence over the proposed ‘Revolution’ protest scheduled for August 5.
