Vanguard newspaper has apologized to vice president Yemi Osinbajo over reports on allegation of N90 billion FIRS fund.
The newspaper on its website on Wednesday, September 25, said its online platform published a story titled: “N90 Bn FIRS Election Fund: Osinbajo’s problem, not 2023 politics.”
It also said it has since discovered that the story lacks factual substance and we hereby retract it in its entirety One of Nigeria’s dailies, Vanguard has apologized to the vice president Yemi Osinbajo over report on an allegation of N90 billion Federal Inland Revenue Service Election fund fraud.
In the regret message sent by Vanguard to the Vice President, Vanguard said that it has been discovered that the story lacks factual substance and hereby withdraw it in its entirety.
A statement by the newspaper’s editor said: “We tender our profound apology to Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on whom the story touches directly, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the FIRS for any inconvenience or embarrassment the publication has occasioned them.”
The Vanguard editor added that: “We hold Professor Osinbajo, S.A.N. in the highest esteem.”
