A suspected cultist, Chinedu Obi, who threatened to invade a police station with his colleagues and kill officers who arrested him, has died.
According to Ogun police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said in a statement on ”Wednesday,31st, July that the suspect died on July 20 at the General Hospital, Ota where he was receiving treatment after being shot in the leg”.
Mr Obi had recently appeared in a viral video at the back of a police patrol van bleeding and threatening to return with his gang members to kill those behind his arrest,he was arrested on July 19th by policemen at Sango Ota Division Headquarter for harmful damage.
According to police, he said”Obi ran out of interrogation room, picked an axe and started smashing windscreens of 17 vehicles parked inside the police station also chasing the policemen, before he was knock down.
Mr Oyeyemi added that the officer who shot Obi acted in accordance with Force Order 237 since the suspect was armed with an axe and aggressive. He denied claims that the police intentionally allowed the suspect to bleed to death, insisting that Obi died while receiving treatment at General hospital.
