The actress who shared the news on her social media page says, this project became necessary as she struggles to answer these questions. Do kids read again? Do they write?
How do we challenge their thinking?, IT is like air these days. But how can we positively utilize it on a not so professional scale?
The announcement of the contest, that will offer the winners the sum of N100.000, she hopes will help bring the kids back to their books.

I have partnered with Plexus Media for the 2019 edition of the Ufuoma McDermott National Essay Competition for teenagers in Nigeria.
The aim is to develop the intellectual, writing and healthy competitive abilities of secondary students in Nigeria, while also drawing necessary public attention to serious issues in Nigeria, especially those that have received very little attention from the public and private sectors.
