19-year-old South Carolina man shot his cousin over salt and vinegar potato chips.
19-year-old Ryan Dean Langdale, shot his 17-year-old cousin over salt and vinegar potato chips dispute, Ryan had warned his cousin not to eat his chips, but when his cousin refuses to adhere to him, Ryan shot him.
“Do not touch my chips, or I’ll shoot you,” the cousin said Langdale had warned him, the Post and Courier of Charleston reported.
Ryan had earlier reported the incident on September 29, as an accident.
The sheriff’s office said Langdale told deputies his cousin had accidentally shot himself by dropping a hunting rifle while cleaning it.
“We knew from the beginning that something wasn’t right,” Maj. J.W. Chapman of the sheriff’s office said. “The more we looked into it, the more it seemed odd.”
Base on Foxnews, Ryan faces additional charges due to a false story he gave to authorities.
South Carolina’s WCIV-TV reported that Ryan switched weapons while on the scene. also that he attempted murder, involving the use of a firearm in a violent crime.
He surrendered Wednesday morning, with his bail set at $55,000, according to the Post and Courier.
