Senate Presidency: South-South, Calls For Position

Leaders in the South-South chapter of the All Progressives Congress have called for the position of the Senate President.

The call was made in a congratulatory message to President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory in the recently concluded presidential election.

Stressing that the zone is worthy of the position, the party’s Vice-Chairman in the South-South, Ntufam  Etta, said  “The leadership of our great party in the zone has done extreme hard work towards stabilising the polity to ensure that business thrives in the region and also informing our youths that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace.

He added, “We recall that during the tenure of our son, Senator Joseph Wayas, as Senate President, he made our zone and the country very proud. We saw a harmonious working relationship between the executive, legislature and the judiciary; and the benefit at this was for all Nigerians.

Etta further appreciated the leaders and youths of the zone for embracing peace as a key for continuous development of the region and the country in general.

He added “We believe that the South-South zone deserve to be given the opportunity considering the fact that they remain the only zone in the country that has not produced any principal officer of this government since 2015 when the Buhari government came into office.

“we urge President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to put the interest of the nation at heart, consider the principles on which they stand and on which the party was built and allow the south south produce the next Senate President.
