The Kano State Police Command has arrested two people for being in possession of 14 bags of specimen of ballot papers in the state. Kano State police spokesman, DSP Haruna Abdullahi, disclosed this during a press briefing yesterday where he stated that the men were arrested in the metropolitan area of the state.
The specimen was loaded in a vehicle at the time of their arrest, he stated, adding that the ballot papers were not thumb-printed and were not real.
According to him, the suspects said that they were taking the impounded items to Dutse, Jigawa State capital, with the intention of distributing them to the rural people to enlighten them on the election process.
He explained that the suspects have been taken in for interrogation, adding that investigation into the incident had since commenced.
DSP Abdullahi said that despite the fact that the ballot papers were just specimens and not original, the police were duty-bound to investigate and ascertain the motive behind the action.
