Police Arraigns 23 Suspected Cultist In Ijebu, Ogun State

At least 23 People arraigned by police in Ogun for Cult conspiracy.

About 23 Persons, suspected to be members of a dreaded cult group, have been arrested by the police in Ogun State, The Sun News reports.

The cultists were arraigned on Wednesday while trying to begin initiation Process at Ilaporu, Awa-Ijebu, in Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state.

The Cult members had gathered on the town from other towns, including Ijebu-Igbo, Ago-Iwoye, and Oru-Ijebu, for new members’ initiation and later unleash terror on the residents of Ilaporu, as a sign of admitting the new members, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement.

He also said that the Awa-Ijebu Division, through technical intelligence, got information of the unlawful gathering at the location, and immediately the DPO of Awa-Ijebu, Mr. Olu Monday, led his anti-robbery team to the location and arrested the suspects, numbering to 23.

However, Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to Anti-Cultist and Anti-Kidnapping Section for proper investigation and prosecution, The Sun reported.
