24 years old Catriona Gray from the Philippines has been crowned Miss Universe 2018.
On Monday, amid 93 contestants, beautiful 24 years old Miss Catriona Gray of Philippines was crowned Miss Universe 2018, after beating Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green and Sthefany Gutierrez of Venezuela. The pageant was held in Bangkok Thailand 93 contestant were in for the competition.
Despite Steve Harvey accidentally announcing the wrong winner at the 2015 Miss Universe pageant, didn’t stop him from hosting this year beauty pageant, Steve Harvey and Ashley Graham hosted the show and was joined by an intriguing performance by American pop star Ne-yo.
Meanwhile, the beauty pageant had sparked controversy as all eyes were on Miss Spain, Angela Ponce who made history as the first transgender to put in for the competition, she, however, didn’t make it to top 20. In an interview with Miss Spain, told reporters that she had wanted to compete in a “beauty pageant ever since she was a little girl”, she also added that trans women can be whatever they want to be, a teacher, a mother, a doctor, a politician and even Miss Universe.
The 24 years old Catriano Gray was born in Australia and studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Miss Gray would be the fourth Miss Philippines to take home the crown, making Philippine having it for the fourth time. She is very passionate about poverty in the Philippines as she tends to reduce the rate of poverty in the nation, she has her own project called Paraiso: The Bright Beginnings Project.
