Widow of the late Igbo leader, Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, Bianca, has called for immortalization of Igbo fallen heroes, in manners which will portray their ideals and philosophies.
Bianca gave the call during a funeral tribute to a former President General of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Dozie Ikedife in Nnewi, Anambra State.
Lamenting that the fallen heroes are not well honoured, she appealed to the Ndigbo to work out good immortalisation schemes for their people,.
Bianca said, “It has always been an issue on how to immortalise great men, especially of Igbo extraction.”
“I believe individuals; organisations and institutions should consider making a monument for such great people and such monument should not just be in making statutes to remember the dead.”
“It should involve setting up of projects that show the person’s philosophies, ideologies and all the things he believed in life “she stated.”
Describing Ikedife as an extraordinary man who spent time with her late husband, Ojukwu, to tackle issues that promoted Igbo cause, she said Ikedife was a true Igbo man who advanced the warfare and cause of the Igbo nation. He was always there to fight for their rights,” she stated.
Ikedife died on December 11, 2018, and was buried the next day according to his wish, his family organised a day of tributes for him on Saturday.
