Oshiomhole, EPM Embark On Campaign Of Calumny, Conspiracy Theories Towards Unsettling Edo

The Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, has said the suspended National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and his co-dissidents in the Edo Peoples Movement (EPM), have embarked on conspiracy theories and campaign of calumny in their sustained effort to undermine peace and safety in the state.

Osagie, who was reacting to claims by Oshiomhole and the EPM that a security aide of the governor is currently hospitalised, stressed that having completely lost grip of the APC structure both at the state and national levels, Oshiomhole has resorted to lies and conspiracy theories in a bid to create the sense that he is still relevant to his support base, which is fast declining.

He said, “This is also part of Oshiomhole’s last resort to create a sense of insecurity in Edo State to throw the people into panic, undermine public safety and create tension and crisis. This is calculated at making the state seem ungovernable to force the federal authorities to declare a State of Emergency in the state so that he can continue his inordinate plans of enthroning himself as one who calls all the shots in the state.”

He added that the suspended National Chairman has continued to constitute himself into a major public threat with his ongoing atrocious campaign to undermine government by planning sponsored anti-government protests and also concocting lies to create a sense of crisis in the state.

“With his displacement from the party in the state and his unending battle with party leaders in Abuja, the embattled National Chairman is becoming very imaginative in spewing a bouquet of lies to hoodwink people and spread half-truths about government and its officials.

“But, we want to alert the public that he hasn’t changed his colours. He remains a threat to public peace in Edo State on account of his disregard for protocol and flagrant flouting of directives by constituted authorities, which have been documented and brought to the public domain over the past few months,” he said.

He continued, “So, whatever Oshiomhole and his gang of supporters in the EPM are spewing are the figment of their imagination and have no basis in fact. We stand by the people of Edo State in this face-off and assure that we will not betray their trust, but rather work towards building a vibrant, prosperous state that provides opportunity for everyone to actualize their full potentials.

“We, however, want to assure Edo people that security, law and order, remains a priority of the government and we will spare no effort in ensuring that the state is safe for residents and indigenes to conduct their lawful businesses.”

Osagie reiterated the call on the Presidency, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the National Security Adviser (NSA) to rein in Oshiomhole and ensure that he stops the efforts being made to undermine government and endanger the lives of Edo people in pursuit of his selfish ambitions.
