Ogun: Tribunal Orders INEC To Allow Akinlade, APM Inspect Electoral Materials

The gubernatorial Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ogun state, Adekunle Akinlade has been granted access to the documents used for the conducts of March 9 elections in the state.

Earlier, a motion ex parte was filed by Akinlade and his party, challenging the victory of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

However, the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, presided by Justice Chinwe Onyeabor, today, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow the party to inspect the elections material.

Speaking, the Petitioners’ Counsel, Mamman Osuman SAN told the tribunal that the order was crucial to allow the applicants access the electoral documents “with a view to maintaining the petition already filed before the tribunal.”

The application, according to him, was brought pursuant to section 151 sub-section 1 and 2 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended).
