A member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the state, Abednego Ajibola, has been sentenced to death by hanging for killing his colleague during a disagreement over whose turn it was to pick passengers.
Justice Lekan Ogunmoye of a high court in Ekiti State found 40-year-old Ajibola guilty of causing the death of one Ojo Ogunsakin, 42, at the Akure Garage, along the Ikere Road in Ado Ekiti on March 10, 2017, contrary to Section 316 of the Criminal Code Cap C16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
“The ingredients of the offence of murder have been established against the accused person and he is convicted accordingly. The accused person is hereby sentenced to death by hanging on the neck till he will be dead. May the Almighty God have mercy on his soul,” the judge ruled.

A. Omotayo of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, who conducted the post-mortem examination on the corpse of the deceased.
