Mixed Reactions Trail Instagram’s Decision To Hide Post Likes

CEO of photo-sharing platform, Adam Mosseri has announced that its US users would stop seeing their post likes starting from next week.

The development which had been tested in Canada and Australia is said to be put in olace for the mental wellbeing of its users who feel that post likes validate their ways of life.

However, this decision did not go down well with some users who think that the platform is making a huge mistake with the development, while some applauded the decision.

@baeryl tweeted: “Instagram doesn’t care about your mental health. They’re taking likes away to control what trends and to make money controlling what pops off and what doesn’t….. lol you think IG gives a f*** about your mental health? Every move they make is calculated for their own benefit”

@itsavibe tweeted: “Instagram likes will no longer exist next week for US users of the app, I like this change”

@IDK tweeted: “The concept of instagram likes is so f****d up. All it does it show you who’s more “important” than the other.”

@sweetforyuh tweeted: “instagram is pointless without likes, so we’re just gonna smile at pictures and keep scrolling”

@sowmyak tweeted: “Too many folks “living for the ‘Gram”… If you genuinely love what you do, you’ll do it regardless of whether Instagram likes are public or not”

@nigerianprynce tweeted: “This is very stupid. Content Creators need things like likes to gauge what type of content people like. Plus independent business can’t track who likes their content. Instagram algorithm is already trash now this”
