Minister Of Transportation Makes Facemasks, Compulsory On Trains

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on Tuesday has told passengers that the compulsory use of facemasks, as well as sanitizers, would be required before they would be allowed to board the trains.

The minister made this known during the press briefing of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 on Monday.

The train operations according to the minister would, however, resume on Tuesday

He noted that while he believed it is not yet right to allow the trains to resume operations amidst the rising cases of the COVID-19 in the country, those who wanted to go for celebrations ‘ pressurized’ him to do so.

According to him, any passenger who does not put on the facemask properly would be asked to disembark from the train.

“If you are coming to board the trains, you must wear your facemask properly. Ensure it covers your mouth and your nose. Don’t put the facemask on your chin,” Ameachi stated.
