Man United’s Koulibaly deal under threat as Real Madrid hold out £90m.

Kalidou Koulibaly could be heading to Real Madrid despite Man United’s interest. The Spanish giants are ready to fork out £90million for the Senegalese center-back.

The Red Devils have turned their attention to Roma central defender Kostas Manolas Manchester United’s hope of signing Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has come under threat as Real Madrid have joined the race for the center-back. Los Blancos are reportedly ready to splash out £90million for the 27-year-old as United are getting ready to make a swoop on the Senegal international in the January window. Koulibaly has established himself as one of the best stoppers in the world and Napoli are understandably desperate to retain his services.

According to Italian news outlet Il Mattino, the Serie A side are unwilling to accept anything less than the fee Real are willing to pay. Madrid currently sit fifth in La Liga after a nightmare start to 2019 and are already ten points behind league leaders and rivals Barcelona. On the other hand, the Red Devils are keen for defensive reinforcements having missed out on each of their targets last summer.

Ex-United manager Jose Mourinho was keen to land a world class central defender but failed in a bid to do so before he was given the boot last December. But new interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been promised funds by the club and Koulibaly is on United’s wishlist. But with the situation at hand, they have turned attention to Roma defender Kostas Manolas in January.
