Following the bomb threat from an unidentified person overnight, town halls resident across Germany has been vacated in order to avoid disaster.
According to report from a police force, several city buildings were evacuated on Tuesday after threats, in some cases bomb threats were received by email overnight.
A police in the southern city tweeted: “A threat against the city of Augsburg has been received, the town hall has been cleared, we are investigating.”
Police posted similar tweets from western Neunkirchen and Kaiserslautern, eastern Chemnitz, central Goettingen and northern Rendsburg.
Officers has since then been surrounding the areas of the concerned buildings for any suspicious item, but nothing has been found yet. Most forces said sniffer dogs were searching for explosives and local traffic was disrupted.
In Goettingen public transport was diverted around the city hall and likewise in Augsburg – some tram and bus services have been halted.
The sender of the threats is yet to be identified.
