The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar has charged that he expected a much organized and violence free supplementary polls in states where elections are yet to be concluded.
There had been reports of violence, ballot box snatching, vote buying, intimidation of voters in Kano, Bauchi, Pleateau, Benue and other areas where supplementary elections are conducted on Saturday.
Atiku said: “Preliminary report indicates violence and intimidation has characterised the supplementary elections in parts of the country. We would have expected better management of the polls on account of much reduced coverage areas.”
E247mag.com earlier reported that the rerun election in Jato-Aka, Tse Akough PU 012, Yaav Ward, Kwande Local Government of Benue State was disrupted by political thugs.
It was gathered that a man identified as Iorver Yough who is suspected to be a card-carrying member of the All Progressives Congress allegedly led thugs with Sekav Aule (Tor Geri Jato-aka) to destroy election materials.
However, the Kano state Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed PDP’s claim on the deployment of political thugs from neighboring states.
Earlier, the PDP’s Acting Chairman in the state, Rabiu Sulaiman-Bichi, in a news conference accused the APC of importing thugs to the state to disrupt the election process.
Reacting to PDP’S claim, The APC state chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, denied the allegation, while addressing a news conference in Kano today.
