In a bid to ensure a violence-free governorship and house of assembly elections on Saturday, a group of journalists in Adamawa State today observed a peace walk and rally.
The Acting Chairman of NUJ in Adamawa, Alhaji Umar Dankano, noted that the walk was planned in collaboration with a U.S. based international NGO, “Search for Common Ground (SFCG)
“We declare that we stand for peace and will work to ensure that there is no bloodletting before, during and after the exercise.
Dankano further implored political parties, politicians, the electorate, security operatives and the INEC to work towards peaceful elections
Similarly, the Adamawa Coordinator of SFCG, Mr Abubakar Mustafa, said the organisation was dedicated promoting peace to harmony and would continue to partner like-minds as NUJ in that direction.
Lauding the people of Adamawa for the peaceful Presidential and National Assembly elections, Mustafa called for peace during and after the elections.
The walk took the journalists round some major streets in Yola.
