The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has excluded Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, from list of senators-elect.
Okorocha of the All Progressive Congress contested to represent Imo West Senatorial district in the February 23 election.
The election’s Returning Officer, Prof Francis Ibeawuchi, earlier declared Okorocha as the winner of the poll, which he said was inconclusive.
Ibeawuchi claimed he was compelled to declare Okorocha as the winner of the election amidst fears for his life.
However, INEC did not list anyone as the winner of the election on its website where the names of all the senators-elect were published, saying the winner was “announced under duress”.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, had said the commission will not allow the act of compelling INEC officials to declare winners of elections.
According to INEC, supplementary elections will be conducted in Abia South, Imo North, Kogi East, Ondo South, Rivers East and West.
