I Will Become a Better Defender When I Return To Manchester United – Smalling

Manchester United defender, Chris Smalling who is currently on loan at Roma has revealed that he will become a better player when he returns to the club in May.
Smalling has become a key player for the Italian club, scoring his first goal for the capital club in their 4-0 victory over Udinese on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old is eager to make the most of his time in Rome, and hopes his form with Roma will improve his chances of earning more playing time for Man Utd and the England National Team.
In an interview with The Athletic, he stated: “I won’t close the door on playing for England until I hang up my boots, even though my chances under Gareth Southgate have diminished regardless of my form for United or Roma.
“This is a coaching decision, but I hope the situation changes. Maybe he will look at me differently if I play well in Italy where they know more about defending.
“I think I’ll be a better player when I return to Manchester next May.”
However, after joining Roma from Manchester United on a season-long loan, he has featured in six Serie A games for the Italian club.
