Hong Kong customs officers have arrested a Nigerian woman with more than a half kilogram of cocaine hidden in her body.
Customs officers at Hong Kong international airport have arrested a Nigerian woman seen with more than a half kilogram of cocaine.
The 37-year-old woman who hid the drug in her body arrived the city on a flight from Lagos via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and was stopped by customs officers.
South China Morning Post reports that she claimed to be a businesswoman and acted suspiciously, shortly after her arrival on Thursday, April 18.
Meanwhile, the woman was taken to Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei for a check-up, where two hundred and fifteen grams of cocaine contained in condoms and plastic bags were found in her vagina.
The drug weighed 550 grams in total and was estimated to be worth HK$522,000 (US$66,900).
Authorities, however, said she may discharge more drugs.
It can be recalled that death sentence was passed on eight Nigerians in Sharjah, United Arab Emirate (UAE) on Wednesday, April 17, for robberies at money exchanges and cash machines (ATMs) across the emirate in December 2016.
