The governorship candidate of the people’s Democratic Party and incumbent governor of Taraba state, Darius Ishaku has been declared winner of the just concluded governorship election in the state.
The state returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission Professor Shehu Iya of Moddibo Adamawa University of Technology, Yola, made the declaration in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to Shehu, the people’s Democratic Candidates polled 520,433 votes to defeat his closet rival and candidates of the All Progressive Congress Sani Danlandi who polled 362, 735 votes.
Reports gathered Ishaku won twelve local government areas out of the sixteen in the state while Danlandi of the All Progressive Congress won four.
Taraba state since the democratic government in 1999 has been won consistently by the People’s Democratic Party.
