A civil servant, Comrade Benson Efeotor, has been rewarded with a brand new car by the Delta state government for returning the sum of N53 million erroneously paid into his account.
Efeotor who works with the Delta State Ministry of Finance (Project E-Delta) was erroneously paid N53, 121,650 by the state government.
Instead of keeping the money with himself, he proved himself a model for honesty by returning the money.
The civil servant said, “I returned the money because I don’t have such money in my bank account, you don’t collect what does not belong to you, I am working for my salary, if I collect the money, that’s criminal”.
The state governor Ifeanyi Okowa announced the reward during the May Day rally in Asaba while commending Efeotor’s honesty and encouraged others to be like him.
