Godwin Obaseki has been formally declared the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic party for the September 19, 2020 Governorship election in Edo State.
Chairman Edo State 2020 Governorship primary election/Bauchi State Governor, Mr Bala Mohammed declared him winner of the primaries that was held on Thursday at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City after polling 1952 valid votes cast in the election which recorded a total of 72 invalid votes.
A total of 2234 delegates were scheduled to participate in the election, but 2202 delegates were accredited in the election which recorded 2024 valid votes.
Three other Governorship aspirants of the party, Mr Kenneth Imasuangbon, Engr. Gideon Ikhine, and Engr. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, had stepped down for the incumbent Governor after intense and painstaking consensus arrangement before voting commenced by 6p.m on Thursday.
Addressing delegates to the primaries, Governor Bala Mohammed, described the exercise as historic, also paid tribute to the three aspirants for stepping down for Governor Obaseki.
According to our correspondent Osunde Osaigbovo Massy report that, He admitted however that the PDP had made mistakes and learnt lessons from them by entrenching internalising internal democracy.
Mohammed, described Governor Obaseki as highly resourceful and reference point in the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
