Defoe still leads the fundraising attempts for the Bradley Lowery Foundation after the child died from a rare form of cancer Ex-England international Jermain Defoe has constructed an accommodation in the Caribbean for abused and neglected kids, according to a UK Sun report. The Bournemouth forward enjoyed a well-documented bond with terminally ill Sunderland supporter Bradley Lowery. However, on July 7, 2017 Bradley’s parents pronounced that the six-year old has lost the battle with cancer neuroblastoma. Already, Defoe’s support for kids has been a constant feature in his life, as disclosed by the UK Daily Star. Interestingly, an informal encounter with deprived kids on a beach in St Lucia saw the ex-England forward building a home for them. “When we spoke to the hotel staff they told us these children were homeless, orphans, or in poverty – and told us about their plight. “Since then Jermain has always been involved in helping deprived youngsters, both in the Caribbean and in Britain,” Jermain’s mum Sandra was quoted as saying to the newspaper. The Rainbow Children’s Home was constructed last year by the Jermain Defoe Foundation and is expected to commence operations in the coming days. The forward still backs the charity foundation he commissioned in memory of Bradley. The tragic infant affected the lives of millions with his brave fight against the rare and debilitating form of cancer. The young Bradley was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the age of just 1 year and 6 months. He overcame the disease once but after some time in remission it came back in July 2016. Bradley’s parent were able to raise money for treatment in the USA but medics delivered the heart-breaking news that the little boy’s cancer had become terminal. Bradley’s mother Gemma later revealed on Facebook that her son lost the battle with the dreaded-cancer on July 7. Going forward, any fund raised which was not spent on Bradley’s medical expenses will be channeled into the Bradley Lowery Foundation to assist others passing through similar experience.
