The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu, today 01/03/2019, held a meeting with major stakeholders in the transport sector of the state, including the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW ), the motorcycle (Okada) and the tricycle (Keke Maruwa) unions.
In his opening remarks, the CP asked the leaders of these groups to caution their members not to lend themselves to unpatriotic elements who might want to use them to breach the public peace and destroy the peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic groups in the state.
He added that the economic progress in the state derives largely from the peaceful atmosphere in the metropolis. He reiterated his earlier warning that the Command would deal decisively with troublemakers.
At the end of the meeting, they all agreed on the need to guard the peace currently enjoyed in the state jealously while pledging that none of their members will be used to truncate the peace in Lagos State before, during and after the gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections.
