Comic Legend and Creator of Spiderman : Stan Lee Dies at 95

 

Stanley Martin Lieber was popularly known as ”Stan Lee”. He died yesterday November 12 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California after being rushed there in a medical emergency earlier in the day.

Lee who had earlier revealed to the public in February that he had been battling pneumonia, was rushed to the hospital for worsening conditions.

Lee born on December 28th, 1922 was an American comic-book writer, who worked his way up the ladder of success from a very humble background into becoming a Comic Legend and carved a niche for himself in the Comic Book and Film Industries.

He started out as an ordinary assistant to a comic-book publisher Martin Goodman, later became an editor, and eventually a Publisher.
He was Editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics and later became its Publisher before becoming Chairman. It was he, who successfully lead its expansion from a small division of a publishing house to a large Multimedia corporation.

In collaboration with several artists, particularly Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, he co-created fictional characters including Spider-Man, The Hulk, Doctor Strange, the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Black Panther, the X-Men, Ant-Man, Iron Man, and Thor. In doing so, he pioneered a more complex approach to writing superheroes in the 1960s, and in the 1970s he challenged the standards of the Comics Code Authority, indirectly leading to it updating its policies.

He married Joan Clayton Boocock on December 5th, 1947. They had their first daughter Their daughter Joan Celia “J. C.” Lee in 1950 and another daughter Jan Lee who died three days after delivery in 1953.

Lee was inducted into the comic book industry’s Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1995. He received a National Medal of Arts in 2008.

His death was met with a wave of tributes, including Marvel stars and friends Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Tom Holland, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Lawrence, Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and many more.

Many lovers and Fans of Stan Lee’s Marvel Characters and Comic stories have taken to his Instagram handle @therealstanlee to send their tributes and condolences.
