Embattled Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, has on Thursday, been sacked by the Code of Conduct Tribunal after being found guilty of false assets declaration.
Delivering judgement on the case, Danladi Umar, CCT chairman, held that by the provision of CCT Act. section 36, the defendant is hereby convicted as follows:
1. The defendant is removed as CJN, chairman of NJC.
2. The defendant is banned from holding public office for the next 10 years.
3. The monies in the 5 bank accounts are confiscated and seized.
His bank accounts were confiscated because the defendant failed to explain the source of the huge sums of money in his accounts.
