One person has been reportedly killed as fracas broke out in Ijesha, Osun State, with touts allegedly beating up PHCN officials over blackout that have lasted over one week.
E247mag.com understand that the entire Ijeshaland had been experienced blackout in the recent weeks, but touts who protest the situation were said to have visited the PHCN main office on Monday to beat up the staff, as many claim that their businesses have collapsed.
A source said: “No light for a week and the touts were angry. They went to their (PHCN) office to beat them up. Soon after, the PHCN officials reported to the king Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland who allegedly gave the order that the culprits must be apprehended. One person has lost his life in the riot.
“Some residents were not happy with the decision and some women took to the streets to protest.
The situation however attracted the police whose attempt to calm the situation however
“So the police interfered and it led to massive people getting injured. Offices were locked and while moving on the streets, you must hold a leaf or lose your life” the source lamented.
As at the time of this report, many who were said to be injured have been taken to the hospital.
