Fresh report reaching e247mag.com has it that occupants of a building in the Oke Arin part of Lagos Island are currently trapped following the collapse of a house at Egerton Square amidst death fears.
Sources say that as officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency were demolishing a house beside the building when it caved in.
The building which was also marked for demolition is located at 57, Egerton Square, Oke Arin.
“We are currently on our way to the place. As soon as I get more update, I’ll get across to you,” Kehinde Adebayo, spokesman of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency told The Cable.

Rasak Musbau, the director of the Lagos State Fire Service revealed that the situation id under control that it was a partial collapse, adding that four persons have been rescued alive.
“Information from our men on the ground at the scene showed that it was a partial collapse. They have removed four persons trapped in the building. They were all rescued alive.
“They have been taken to the hospital for treatment as I speak,” he added
A statement by the LASEMA has it that scavengers who tried to remove a door from the house which was being demolished caused the partial collapse.
“Situation report on the collapsed building at Egerton Oke Arin square, Lagos Island. The building had been marked by LASBCA for Demolition, which started yesterday.
“The officials were on top of the building when some scavengers tried to remove the doors on the ground floor and the remaining parts of the building collapsed on them,” the statement said.
