The Presidency on Tuesday 27 November, reacted to the allegations of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, on blackmailing former president Goodluck Jonathan to support the ruling All Progressives Congress in recent Bayelsa Gubernatorial election, stating all claims are false and irresponsible.
Fliptv earlier reported former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido had claimed in an interview, that the former President Jonathan traded off the Peoples Democratic Party in the Bayelsa governorship election because he was trying to avoid being prosecuted by President Buhari’s administration over the Malabu oil deal.
While addressing the newsmen in Abuja, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu described reports as shock stating the former president had been out of power for almost five years without any previous allegations of government blackmail cropping up.
Garba however admonished the public to stop blaming President Buhari for everything, claiming former President Jonathan has enough reasons to work against his party in the just concluded elections without interference by the president.
Garba sends a strong warning to the media against publicizing fake or baseless allegations, urges them to verify news before publication.
