An associate of the Late Chief of Defense Staff, Alex Badeh, has said that he was killed by expert marksmen.
In an interview with Saturday PUNCH, the associate who spoke in anonymity said that an analysis of the crime scene revealed that his killers were not hoodlums as the police had revealed.
Shuaibu Rabo, one of the suspects had claimed that Badeh was murdered because he resisted being robbed of some money that was meant for the purchase of a land.
These claims have however been refuted by friends and family of the deceased. The associate regarded the confessions as false saying;
“As an intimate friend of the late CDS, I can tell you categorically that Badeh had no such money. He was very broke and could not pay his domestic staff and power bills.”
“He was very broke because all his accounts had been frozen by the court and his pension stopped. So, how could a man who could not pay his bills pay N2m for a farmland as claimed by the police investigation? That is stretching the lies too far.”
A friend of the late Chief of Defense Staff revealed that Badeh had plans to join Atiku’s presidential campaign before he was killed. According to the unanimous associate, Badeh delayed the announcement in order to prepare for the opening of the defense of his corruption case in January. He also claimed that Badeh might have been killed to prevent him from exposing his accomplices in court.
Justice I.E Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja has ordered the interim forfeiture of N263m recovered by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission from one of the prosecution witnesses the N3.9bn fraud trial of Badeh.
