The All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed that it will not get involved in Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha’s issue with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
The party claimed that OKorocha did not inform it of his issue with INEC, while also stating that the governor is on suspension.
Speaking on the party’s decision, APC National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, said: “party cannot take any action on INEC’s refusal to issue Okorocha a certificate of return, Don’t forget that he is on suspension and as far as this party is concerned, that situation remains because there is no way we can say that somebody is on suspension and still go ahead to intervene in his case.
“He has not even informed the party of his problem because he realised that he is on suspension. Therefore, until it is vacated, the party will not step in to intervene as a party member who has a problem to resolve.”
OKorocha was not issued a certificate of return, following a claim by the state’s returning officer, Professor Innocent Ibeabuchi, that the governor was declared the winner of Imo West Senatorial District under duress.
