The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly blocked two ministers in the government of President Muhammadu Buhari from becoming the governorship candidates of the party in their states.
Reports say that the affected ministers include Aisha Alhassan of the women affairs and Adebayo Shittu in charge of communication.
They were reportedly disqualified by the screening committee of the APC.
The report said Alhassan wanted to govern Taraba while Shittu eyed the governorship of Oyo state.
The report said no reason was given for the refusal to clear Alhassan.
However, Shittu was reportedly disqualified because he failed to participate in the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme as reported recently.
Yekini Nabena, the spokesperson of the APC, reportedly released a list of all aspirants cleared to participate in the primary election slated for this Saturday, September 29.
Alhassan’s name was followed by a short remark: ‘not cleared’ with no explanations made.
But Alhassan caused a steer in 2017 when she was reported to have told former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, that her loyalty remained with him even as a minister in the government of Muhammadu Buhari.
