APC Coalition Members Petition EFCC Over Ogboru’s ‘Embezzlement Of Campaign Funds

A coalition of members of All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken the party’s governorship candidate in 2019 polls, Great Ogboru, to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over embezzlement of election funds worth about N3 billion.

According to SaharaReporters, an executive member of the coalition identified as ‘Freeborn’, revealed that a formal petition has since been forwarded to the EFCC and other relevant authorities “to probe Great Ogboru on how the fund was expended”.

He noted that part of the N3billion was for the 2019 campaign for APC, as well as the general election proper.

“ rather than use the money for the purpose it was released, our APC governorship candidate, Great Ogboru, decided to embezzle the cash, It is a known fact that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has zero tolerance for corruption, while a person like Great Ogboru, a serial election loser, is here fighting back corruption.” he said

Earlier in  a press conference in Asaba, the State capital, Daniel Ekiugbo, convener of the Coalition of Delta APC Support Groups, said: “It is of public knowledge that Great Ogboru presented a budget of N3 billion, which was over funded and availed to him. There was no evidence anywhere that he spent N1billion for the elections.”

“We are urging the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to set up a panel of enquirer to review the outcome of the election, with a view to unraveling how the over N3billion released to Ogboru for the purpose of the election was disbursed.” He added

Reacting, Ogboru said the allegations are “unjustified” claiming that some persons were hired to speculate the allegations in order to tarnish his reputation
