2019: Buhari To Flag Off Campaign In Akwa Ibom On Friday

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, will on Friday, 28th December 2018 flag off his campaign for a second term bid in Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom. This comes a week after the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party Atiku Abubarkar kicked off his campaign bid in Sokoto state.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang, made the disclosure on Monday while briefing newsmen in Uyo.

Enang said that the President would be in the state with National Chairman of the party Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and national leaders of the party.

The party during the campaign would  formally present the party’s flag to All Progressive Congress gubernatorial candidates of Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers and Delta respectively.

According to report, the campaign is set kick off because the state has fully accepted the President  muhammadu Buhari as the the presidential candidate and the state is ripe for harvest by the party.

Report has it that Akpabio International Stadium has been approved for the campaign following the decision by Julius Berger Plc. to recall its staff from their scheduled holiday.

The State Government had earlier denied Buhari access to the stadium for his campaign through the state’s commissioner for sports, Monday Uko.

The denial of access to use the stadium according to Uko, was because the stadium’s maintenance company, Julius Berger Construction Company, have “closed for the year and proceeded on vacation” and that a Nigerian Premier League match is due to hold at the stadium early January.

According to the commissioner for youth and sports Monday Uko all the terms stipulated by government for the use of the facility would be enforced.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the state government had on December 23 issued a statement that it would not approve the use of the stadium for the presidential rally due to the Nigeria Premier League matches billed to be played at the stadium, when the competition begins next year.
