US Open 2017: Flushing Meadows Enters Quarter-Final Stage

Quarterfinalists have emerged at the on going tennis grand slam tournament, the US Open.

Juan Martin Del Potro, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Sam Querrey, Pablo Carreno Busta, Andrey Rublev, Kevin Anderson, Diego Schwartzman have all booked their quarter-final berth in the men’s category.

Juan Martin Del Potro came from two sets down to beat sixth seed, Dominic Thiem. The Argentine won 1-6 2-6 6-1 7-6 6-4 over the Austrian and will face Roger Federer who outclassed Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-4 6-2 7-5 in the quarter-final.

World number one Rafale Nadal had an easy run over Alexandr Dolgopolov winning in a straight set of 6-2 6-4 6-1 and will next face Russian kid Andrey Rublev who shocked ninth seed David Goffin 7-5 7-6 6-3 in the round of 16.

South African qualifier Kevin Anderson defeated Paolo Lorenzi 6-4 6-3 6-7 6-4 while American Sam Querrey ran over German M. Zverev 6-2 6-2 6-1. Both qualifiers are set to face each other in the last eight.

The last quarter-final fixture will see Pablo Carreno Busta and Diego Schwartzman lock horns. Spaniard, Carreno Busta defeated Denis Shapovalov of Canada 7-6 7-6 7-6 while Diego Schwartzman defeated Frenchman Lucas Pouille 7-6 7-5 6-2 6-2.
