Uk police arrest two over drones at Gatwick airport.
In the Early hours of Wednesday at Gatwick London airport, thousands of passengers were left stranded as flight coming and taking off were cancelled due to drones that were sited flying at the airport’s airfield. The airport authority, however, said it wasn’t a terror attack. The army and police snipers were called in to hunt down the drones, thought to be industrial-style craft, which flew near the airport every time authorities tried to reopen it on Thursday.
No group has claimed responsibility publicly and police said there was no evidence another state was involved.
Meanwhile, arrests of a man and woman in late Friday had been made, the UK police had claimed both arrested are connected with the disturbance, the police have however asked the public and passengers around the airport to remain vigilant.
“We continue to urge the public, passengers and the wider community around Gatwick to be vigilant,” police said.
“Our investigations are still on-going, and our activities at the airport continue to build resilience to detect and mitigate further incursions from drones, by deploying a range of tactics,” they added in a statement.
Flight at the airport have however resumed at the airport, a spokeswoman said. “The military measures we have in place at the airport have provided us with reassurance necessary to re-open our airfield.”
