Tottenham are about to make their first major signing this summer with reports from the ESPN saying the London club are closing in on a club-record £35m deal to sign Ajax centre-back Davinson Sanchez.
Tottenham, has been silent in the transfer window this summer but are poised to make the 21-year-old Colombian international their first signing.
The deal is far from being complete despite reports in Europe claiming that the Mauricio Pochettino led team have already signed Sanchez.
However, Dutch sport publication De Telegraaf reported on Saturday morning that Ajax remain determined to retain the player, with director of football Marc Overmars telling the newspaper that the club have made Sanchez a “top offer” to sign a new contract.
If Sanchez, capped two times by Colombia, eventually complete his move to England, his transfer fee would eclipse the £30m Spurs paid for both Eril Lamela in 2013 and Moussa Sissiko last summer.
Sanchez played a vital role for Ajax Amsterdam enroute to the Europa League final where they lost to Manchester United.
