Tax Fraud Case: Ronaldo Arrives In Court For Pre-Trial

Portuguese star has arrived at a court in Madrid for his pre-trial hearing after being accused of tax evasion.

The Real Madrid forward who was accused of evading €14.7m in taxes relating to his image rights is set to face pre-trial today.

Ronaldo’s management, Gestifute, has since backed their man of any wrongdoing after the four-time Ballon d’Or winner is alleged to have created a business structure in 2010 to conceal his earnings.

The tax evasion case sparked speculation over Cristiano’s future with reports claiming he no longer wanted to stay in Spain though he has since come out to deny such claims.

Ronaldo, could however, find himself in prison if his case is sent to trial and he is found guilty. He faces a three-and-a-half-years sentence with a fine of at least €28m according to the Gestha union of experts at Spain’s Inland Revenue.
