Rogers Cup: Federer Advances To The Semis, Shapovalov Continues Stellar Run

Roger Federer continues his good run at the Rogers cup with another victory to move to semis in Montreal, Canada.

The Swiss defeated Spaniard, Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4 6-4 in 68 minutes to remain on course for a third Rogers Cup win of his career.

Federer, 36, will meet Dutchaman Robin Hasse in the semi-final . Haase, ranked 52nd in the world, fought back to beat Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman 4-6 6-3 6-3 in the quarter-final.

The other semi-final fixture will see Canada’s Denis Shapovalov play against Alexander Zverev of Germany in a match that pits two rising stars together.

Fourth seeded Alexander Zverev defeated South Africa’s Kevin Anderson in straight sets 7-5 6-4 to set up a match with 18-year-old Shapovalov.

Shapovalov after sending top seeds Juan Martin del Potro and Rafael Nadal out, continues his impressive run, coming from a set down to beat Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 2-6 6-3 6-4.

Zverev, 20, is the youngest player ranked in the top 20 in the world and Shapovalov is the youngest since 1990 to reach a Masters 1,000 quarter-final.
