Not too long ago, the President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, hosted members of Kannywood who paid him a courtesy visit in Aso Rock.
Not long after, the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo paid a visit to the New Afrikan Shrine during Felabration. paying accolade and applauding the late Afro-beat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
Osinbajo recently hosted Nollywood practitioners in Lagos, and with this visible signs from Aso Rock, it seems the road is open for Nollywood stars to have a piece of the national cake.
Lets ponder on over the 2015 elections when Nollywood practitioners and musicians were enlisted by the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
A source who spoke on grounds of anonymity said: “All this is about 2019 elections. We can only hope that these people don’t sell the future of Nollywood for a plate of porridge. They must not be overtaken by greed or stomach infrastructure, but rather use this opportunity to advance the interests of the industry, which has given them a platform to be who they are today.”
