The Nigeria Police have said there was no assassination attempt on Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, but have commenced investigation on the claim to determine other motive behind the offence.
Police spokesman Jimoh Moshood explained in Abuja that the incidence was a burglary and not an assassination attempt as similar incident also took place at the residence of Haliru Adamu, a neighbor of the deputy president where they stole phones, jewelries and other valuables.
Ekweremadu had reported that his family, allegedly escaped assassination attempt at their Apo residence in Abuja in the early hours of Tuesday as he had a similar incidence on his life in Abuja on Nov. 17, 2015.
According to Jimoh Moshood, one of the suspects, Mohammed Yusuf along have volunteered confessional statement after interrogation admitting to the crime and mentioned Ali, who escaped from the scene.
Moshood said that Adamu lost his cell phones and jewelleries to the thieves while nothing was reportedly stolen from Ekweremadu’s house.
