Nigerian hip-hop super star Folarin Falana, popularly called Falz, has aired his opinion on Nigeria’s political issues.
Falz, a multiple award winning Artiste whose recent song titled “this is Nigeria” ignited a lot of controversy in the country, especially in the northern part, has come out to condemn the attitude of some politicians and Leaders towards the citizens of this great country.
He said” Nigerians are quite frustrated as a result of the millions of problems they are facing, everyone has a breaking point and I think Nigerians are getting to that point.
We are quite frustrated with the millions of problems we have been facing. Now, we want to see something different, we want to see a change, and the perfect time to talk about it is NOW”.
He declared this during an interview he granted in the second edition of Africa’s Finest, a magazine by Guaranty Trust Bank.
while deliberating on his recent hit single, ‘This is Nigeria’ Falz stated that the time had come for more young people to take interest in the nation’s polity.
“Socio-political consciousness has always been in my music. Initially, that consciousness was not highly pronounced because it was laced with a lot of humour.
Before the time of ‘This is Nigeria’, there were tracks like ‘Senator’, ‘My People’ and ‘Weldone Sir’. So, consciousness has always been a part of my brand.
“There is a serious need to eradicate apathy especially with the youth. When you talk about politics, a lot of young folks could care less, but I feel that if we all want to see that Nigeria that we dream of, the one with a bright future, then we cannot afford to have that sort of mindset, we need a good government, good leadership system that can take move the country to its highest pinnacle in life.
