The former governor of Akwa Ibom State and former minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has said that his “heart was with President Muhammadu Buhari during the 2015 presidential election.” when he led a group of Elders from his state to see President Buhari at the state house Abuja on Monday, September 17th,2018.

Akpabio who was a PDP governor for two terms in Akwa Ibom state said at the meeting that throughout the PDP’s 16 years in office at the federal level, “there was not even one-kilometer road project by the central government in Akwa Ibom.”

Akpabio, who was Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, boasted that he would deliver Akwa Ibom for APC in 2019.

” What remains of the PDP in Akwa Ibom state was mere carcass as the body and soul of the party had joined the APC,” he said

Akpabio who was minority leader of the Senate defected to APC in August.
