Los Angeles has reached an agreement to host the Olympics in the summer of 2028 instead of 2024, according to widespread reports.
The deal will bring the Olympics back to Southern California for a third time, after Los Angeles hosted the Games in 1984 and 1932 which automatically opens the door for Paris to host the games seven years from now provided that there are no more bids.
Los Angeles was bidding to host the 2024 games but in June, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided that with two strong candidates, Los Angeles and Paris, it would give one city the 2024 games and the other the 2028 games.
According to Los Angeles Times reports, Los Angeles expressed willingness to host the 2028 games, and Paris did not.
The International Olympic Committee is expected to make an announcement later on Monday.
